Royal folio, bound as broadleaves mounted on stubs (20-3/8 x 13-1/2 in.
overall, the paper 20 x 12-1/4 in., 50.7 x 31.2 cm). One of 100 copies with
monochrome plates, of the total limitation of 150 copies. Collates [1 l.],
2 ll. (half-title and title), 51 + [1] pp. (introduction and descriptions
of plates), [1 l.], with 20 monochrome heliogravure plates, printed on unlettered
heavy cream wove blind-paneled paper, the text pages ivory Arches wove,
all pages and plates mounted on stubs. Buff bookcloth, gilt lettering on
front cover, all edges uncut. Some bubbling on covers, fraying of bottom
spine and bottom corners, other minor edgewear. The book block fine, the
text pages bright and the plates impeccable. This copy bears the calligraphic
Latin inscription to Grace, Countess of Dudley, dated 1976 and signed by
Charles Ryskamp, and includes a loose typed signed note of thanks from Ryskamp
to Countess Dudley.
