Color pochoir, 1937. One of only 60 signed impressions. Printed at the Imprimerie Moderne, Paris in four colors on thick wove, 31 x 24.5 cm. In perfect condition.
Perhaps Miró's best-known image, from the same year as the massacre
of Guernica, this stencil print issued by Cahiers d’Art originated
as the design for a one-franc stamp in aid of Republican Spain. The Catalan
peasant's engorged arm brandishes the "… immense creative resources
which will give Spain a power which will astonish the whole world."
The signed edition apart from the Cahiers d'Art issue is very rare.
Dupin, Jacques, Miró Engraver, no. 17.
