HANLEY, Tullah
Love of Art & Art of Love
Blue Earth, Minnesota: Piper Publishing, Inc., 1975.

First edition, first printing. Octavo (9-1/4 x 6-1/4 in. overall). Publisher's brown leatherette covers, gilt lettering on spine and front cover, pictorial dust jacket. Collates 504 pp.: 16 pp., pp. 17-455, 1 p., 48 pp. (black and white photographs at rear). Inscribed by the author on front free endpaper, “Love from Tullah Hanley” in pen, and “I corrected some pages / TH” in a different pen. Several text corrections by the author in pen throughout. Book and dust jacket otherwise fine, as new. This “Cindertullah” autobiography, an intriguing international narrative and charismatic exercise in predominantly sexual “spotlightitis,” chronicles, in its middle part, nuggets of the author’s seemingly odd-couple union with the Main Line patrician Thomas Edward Hanley, blue-book bibliophile and art collector three decades her senior. We offer three drawings, by Victor Tischler, Henry Glintenkamp and Adam Farkas, deaccessioned by the M.H. De Young Memorial Museum, San Francisco, from the celebrated 1969 Hanley memorial gift of 212 objects, recounted by the author in detail; please inquire.
