John Villiers Farrow R.C.N., C.B.E., K.M., K.G.C.H.S. (1904-1963), husband
of Maureen O’Sullivan and father of Mia Farrow, author of The
Story of Thomas More (1956, several reprintings) and Oscar-winning
screenwriter of “Around the Word in 80 Days” (1956), also wrote
the poetry here started off with “A Letter from His Commanding Officer”
from the second World War: “Today we buried him,/ Your son,/ My friend.”
