First edition in book form. Octavo (overall 26 x 16.5 cm, 10-1/4 x 6-1/2 in.). One of 250 unnumbered copies. Brown cloth spine with gilt lettering, over red, grey and white combed pattern marbled paper covers, top edges trimmed, others uncut. Collates [2 ll.], 1 l. (half-title), 1 l. (title in red and black), 1 l. (publication statement), 9 ll.(poems), 1 l. (colophon), [3 ll.]. Fine, in original glassine (the glassine somewhat torn and soiled). John Villiers Farrow R.C.N., C.B.E., K.M., K.G.C.H.S. (1904-1963), husband of Maureen O’Sullivan and father of Mia Farrow, author of The Story of Thomas More (1956, several reprintings) and Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Around the Word in 80 Days” (1956), also wrote the poetry here started off with “A Letter from His Commanding Officer” from the second World War: “Today we buried him,/ Your son,/ My friend.”
